The Sony Open Tennis Tournament, also known as the Miami Masters, is an elite event on the ATP World Tour that features some of the top athletes in tennis.

For 2014, I had the privilege of developing two lines of apparel: performance and vintage, specifically for this prestigious event. As a whole, I wanted the offering to have a fun and playful side much like Miami. Additionally, it was pivotal that it retained a level of refinement, intensity and prestige that parallels the elite athletes themselves.

I experimented with typography, patterning, and color. I developed several hand-done scripts and a lock-up that helped serve as necessary exploration in order to find the right artistic direction. The typography has a hand-done feel, while the lock-up brings an element of sport and prestige. Some of these elements I ended up using later, while others I felt didn't fit the look and feel of the line.
Some preliminary sketches.
Finished apparel designs. Oversized prints, textures, and Miami pastels influenced the overall look & feel.
